Out of ICU

Today he has made it out of ICU and is walking and sitting fairly well. We met most of the transplant team today. His surgeon came for a visit this afternoon and is thinking more can go tomorrow. Looking really good. Now like around 25% or 1 in 3ish patients he has an irregular heart rate and it can get high. Oftentimes this can be corrected and they have started him on the treatment down that path. As Devon says, I can’t be perfect. He is working really hard to get back to normal and do all the work.

ICU

I am beyond words right now sitting beside my husband with him talking and breathing on his own already. He is going to eat in a few hours. He is completely rocking this and doing unbelievably. Thank you to everyone and all the well wishes. Devon Hack is such an amazing husband. I feel so unbelievably lucky and blessed. — Stacey Hack

Emotional Exhaustion

I recently saw a post on Facebook about Emotional Exhaustion around Covid-19 and most people working from home. I’m reminded that I have been working on dealing with this for longer and in a different way but thought I would post some positive around this here. Yes, you read about increased cases in Edmonton and it freaks me out but I remember that with the surgery we are in a better situation with the flu and Covid-19. we can reach out to family and friends online or see them 6 ft apart outside on nice days. We have so much to look forward to and why we should take care of ourselves and ensure we are sleeping well and taking care of ourselves so that we can be there for the ones we love. Here is a little checklist. If you are feeling any of these reach out to your family and friends. Devon has been such an amazing support and his extrovert nature means that he wants to talk to everyone. He really misses going out. I know that some of these are definitely more of a trigger to all of us because of Covid-19. Stay Safe!

Transplant Prep Month

An update: Edmonton is going to be online for the month prep in April as planned. So we get to do the classes and exercises and diet from home. The list is a bit backed up but they have restarted surgeries so we should be on the active list by mid-April and be expected to go to Edmonton. Complicated and stressful but hopeful at the same time.
